Project Overview
Liverpool John Moores University partnered with Claryon Systems to deliver the Maternal Alcohol Reduction Intervention, a digital platform supporting women who are trying to conceive, pregnant or in early motherhood. The web app provides personalised guidance and practical tools to help women make informed decisions about alcohol consumption in a supportive and non-judgemental way.
Problem Statement
Guidance around alcohol use during pregnancy is often inconsistent, difficult to access and shaped by stigma. Women reported feeling judged, confused or unsupported, and existing digital resources did not reflect real life behaviours or individual circumstances. There was a clear need for an accessible intervention designed with women, not just for them.
The Outcome
MARI is now live and undergoing structured testing with users and professional stakeholders. Early use focuses on understanding engagement, usability and how effectively the platform supports reflection, tracking and access to trusted guidance. Ongoing testing and feedback is informing refinement ahead of wider rollout.
