Project Overview
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital needed to streamline the paper-based referral process for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in the Liverpool and Sefton regions. With 13 mental health providers operating across the area, young people and families were struggling to access timely support, often repeating their stories multiple times and receiving no help while waiting. The system lacked visibility, integration and user empowerment.
Problem Statement
Claryon co-designed the AsOneHealth platform (previously CYPasOne) alongside more than 100 young people, parents and professionals. The result is a unified, user-friendly digital referral system that connects NHS CAMHS teams with voluntary and third-sector providers, allowing CYP and families to self-refer, track referrals and access relevant resources. Emphasis was placed on accessibility, conditional logic and clear signposting to simplify complex journeys for all users.
The Outcome
Since launching in 2021, AsOneHealth has supported over 10,000 service users across Liverpool and Sefton, with more than 28,000 referrals submitted and over 15,000 actioned to date. The platform improves early intervention, reduces duplication in the referral journey and enhances access to care for children, families and professionals. It has become a recognised model for integrated digital mental health support and won the Innovation category at the Forward Health Awards 2021.
